Lens review: EOS Max Pure Gray

A few months ago I received a package filled with new lenses. Among them was this gray pair, which I opened in the beginning of December. I popped them in my eyes on the morning before going to school but as soon as the right lens was in my eye I felt discomfort. I took it out, cleaned it and tried again. It wasn't any better. I tried cleaning it again but I felt no improvement. I was starting to get worried (and also late for school). On the 4th try it still felt like it was scratching my eye so I gave up on wearing it; I put both lenses back in the lens case and ran to school.
A few days later I carefully inspected the right lens and I could see some imperfection on it. It confirmed my suspicion that it was a defective lens and so I contacted the site I bought them from. I got a slow but kind reply. I asked for a replacement pair but they didn't have the power for my left eye in stock. The left lens hadn't given me any problem so I asked if I could have only the right lens. The answer was yes and all I had to do was to destroy the defective lens and send a picture of it for proof.
Which leads me to say: don't ever wear lenses that hurt your eyes or feel uncomfortable. If you feel pain that doesn't go even after cleaning the lens, don't wear it. Contact the site that sold you the lens and work this out. People will be friendly and happy to help you.

On the 27th of December I got a small package in the mail. It was my one and only right lens. I put it to soak in solution as soon as possible so I got to wear it on the following day. I was eager to wear this pair because as far as I had seen when I only had the left lens in my eye, the Max Pure Gray looked good on me.
On the 28th I woke up early, put on both lenses and didn't feel any pain or discomfort! I put on make-up and a winter school uniform and got my photographer out of bed for review pics. Just like last time, we had a rather tight timing to take the lens pics because of polar night; the sun rises late and sets early.

Before I show pics, here is some quick info on the lenses:
The diameter is 14.5mm.
The base curve is 8.8mm.
I don't know about the water content because it seemingly isn't written on the bottles.

On to the pics now. As per usual, colors are completely unedited.
Photographer is Shiro Samurai.

Bottles pic.

The one on the right shows "wrong" side.
The light is bad but it's just to show enlargement.
This was taken indoors, in bad light in the corridor.
Taken in the stairs, light definitely isn't the best.
Taken outdoors during winter time. I'm turning my back to the light.
Outdoors, facing the light.
Outdoors, half-turned toward the light.
Outdoors, flash pic.
Indoors, under yellow light.
Indoors, facing a window in the stairs.
Indoors, usual room light during winter.
Side way glance indoors.
Flash pic indoors.
Bathroom light.
And now some pics from a distance.

Portrait.

And full-body.
You will notice the snow in the background and how naked my legs are. I just want to say that it was around -18°C out there when we took the pics. Usually I have no problems with the cold but when my legs are almost naked it's a different matter.
I froze.
But my photographer was quick so we rushed inside as soon as possible. The small hairs inside my nose had frozen and I could feel them when I breathed in.
If you wonder, the blue vest is made by my mum. She's the best. <3

As far as the lenses' color is concerned, I'm happy/ My eyes already have a color that is close to grey so the lenses blend almost perfectly. Color-wise and size-wise they are rather natural but the very thick dark outer ring counters this. Not like I think it's bad, I love it. It makes the gray stand out more.
Comfort-wise, I wasn't bothered by the 8.8 curve at all. It seemed like my eyes were very slightly red when I took them off but it didn't hurt or anything. It felt slightly different from other lenses when I tookthem out; there is some kind of short-lived discomfort or weird feeling (after I took off the lenses). That's all the difference I notice between 8.8 and 8.6 base curve. Otherwise, I had no problems putting them on.

Bonus:

Just comparing lenses. The one on the right is Vassen Dori Pink and I personally think it appears slightly bigger. The picture is taken with flash, by the way.

In short:

Color: 7/10
These have a pretty shade.
Design: 8/10
I love the dark outer ring.
Opacity: 8/10
Fairly opaque but the pupil hole is big so they blend with my natural eye color in the middle.
Enlargement: 7/10
Enlarging but not obviously unnatural either.
Comfort: 8/10
They're rather comfortable They start drying out after about five hours though so you should have eye drops at hand if you want to wear them for a longer time.
Naturalness: 6/10
The thick limbal ring crashes the naturalness.

Lens review: Vassen Dori Pink

I'm finally getting to review my Vassen Dori Pink. I opened them in the beginning of this month but I had a really hard time taking pictures. The reason? It's called polar night and it means very little sunlight every day. I'm not actually bothered by polar night at all but I must admit that when it comes to taking pictures, it's pretty annoying. It's a tight timing to get make-up done in time, and the sun sets very early, with light beginning to fade around 2pm.
But now I have my pics, taken by Shiro Samurai. Of course there is no color editing so all pictures show true colors.

Flash pic of the bottles. The one on the right shows "wrong" side.
One lens in to show enlargement. Flash pic.
This was taken outdoors. I'm facing the light but the sky is cloudy.
Outdoors; taken with flash.
Still outdoors, not facing the light completely.
Turning my back to the light.
Taken on the "shadow" side of the building, still outdoors.
Outdoors; facing a corner.
And now from a distance.

I was cold even in this outfit so my photographer and I went to take indoors pics.

Indoors, in yellow light.
Indoors, flash pic.
Bathroom light.
Room light. It's winter now so rooms are dark.
Sideways glance; taken under the lamp.
I also have a comparison pic of the Dori Pink and Dori Blue

Flash pic.
Some quick info about the lenses:
They also go under the name Béuberry Sweet Eyes Pink.
Their base curve is 8.6 mm.
The diameter is 14.5 mm and the water content is 42%, according to the bottles.

I also reviewed the blue lenses of the same series, go check it out here
Comfort wise, the Dori Pink feel just like the Dori Blue, which was to be expected. They are comfortable to wear and can be kept in the eyes for several hours. I personally think that they don't look as enlarging and as vibrant as the blue ones but they are still pretty.

In short:

Color: 7/10
The pink shade isn't very vibrant; it's more delicate. It doesn't show very much because the color is mainly near the outer ring of the lens so a lot of your real eye color shows in the middle. I personally think that it enhances natural eye color while adding some light pink; it's a good mix.
Design: 9/10
Love the flower design.
Opacity: 7/10
They seem to be less opaque than the blue ones.
Enlargement: 8/10
It seems to me that their slightly more discrete color affects the enlargement. They still give you obvious big eyes though.
Comfort: 9/10
They are still new so comfort is optimal so far. I don't feel them and I can wear them even if my eyes are tired.
Naturalness: 2/10
You can't really have pink eyes with flower petals in them.

Lens review: Vassen Dori Blue

Lately I've been feeling like wearing blue circle lenses and the only blue pair I had at hand was my EOS Max Misty Blue, which I decided to throw away because every time I wore them, I had bloodshot eyes afterward.
So I wanted some blue lenses that would be kind to my eyes instead. I found this pair, the Vassen Dori Blue (that also goes under the name Béuberry Sweet Eyes Blue) and I couldn't find any reviews of them. So I bought them with the intention to review them.
Their base curve is the usual 8.6mm. I don't know what the actual diameter is because it's written as 16.0mm on beuberry.com and as 14.5mm on PinkyParadise. Same thing for the water content, one says 55% and the other says 42%.
But let's move on to the review. First, pictures of the lenses in the bottles.
All pictures are taken by Shiro Samurai. They are unedited to show real colors.

In the bottles.
The lens on the left shows "wrong" side.
Flash pic. The lens on the right shows "wrong" side.
On my finger, "wrong" side up.
I put them in lens solution and let them soak in there overnight. I then wore them on the 20th of October but took the pics on the 22nd because I didn't have time or good light on the 20th.

One lens in. Pay attention to the enlargement.
Taken outdoors, facing the sunlight.
Outdoors. I'm turning my back to the sun.
Outdoors. I'm facing the light, it got brighter.
Outdoors. I'm on the "shadow" side of the building now.
Still outdoors, facing the light. Sun is starting to set.
Taken outdoors with a cloudy sky.
Indoors, facing the light coming from outside. Flash pic.
Same as above but without flash.
Taken indoors, facing a window.
Indoors. Yellow lamp light.
Indoors. Flash pic.
Bathroom light.
Sideway glance. (taken indoors, facing a window in normal roomlight)
And this is how they appear from a distance.

Outdoors, in the shadows.
Indoors, facing the window.

In short:

Color: 9/10
Obvious and vibrant color. Even in bad light, it's impossible to miss. Very pretty blue as well.
Design: 9/10
The flower-like pattern is delicate-looking and cute. Definitely not common.
Opacity: 8/10
They cover your real color well, except in the middle because the pupil hole is pretty big. So they are opaque on the edges and blend in the middle, which is a good combination. It looks especially pretty on light eyes.
Enlargement: 9/10
They definitely look bigger than 14.5mm but they don't eat up my eyes like 16.0mm either... I wonder what the real diameter is? They enlarge beautifully in any case.
Comfort: 8/10
I could easily wear them for a very long time without problems. At times I completely forgot about them. -EDIT- They lost in comfort pretty fast; now they start feeling semi-dry after about three hours. Eye drops should fix this just fine.
Naturalness: 3/10
They're too vibrant and big to be natural... but ironically, someone actually thought that they were my real eyes.

Are you interested in the Vassen Dori Pink? I reviewed them too here.
